Your Flight Experience
Every trial lesson is tailored to give you hands-on experience and expert guidance:
- One-on-One Pre-Flight Briefing: Before takeoff, your instructor will walk you through the aircraft controls, explain how they affect the plane on the ground and in the air, and answer all your questions.
- The Flight: Enjoy a 30- or 60-minute local flight soaring over the stunning landscapes of Kent and Sussex (routes are customized based on the day’s weather and air traffic restrictions).
- Post-Flight Debrief: Conclude your session with a dedicated debrief to review your route, discuss your progress, and map out your next steps in aviation.

Taking the Controls: Your Flight Experience
1. Pre-Flight & Takeoff: Getting Into the Air
Step into the Captain’s Seat: Settle comfortably into the left-hand pilot seat—the traditional home of the captain—and get ready for an unforgettable adventure.
Behind the Scenes: Your expert instructor guides you through essential pre-flight checks and procedures, fires up the engine, and handles the taxi to the runway holding point.
Lifting Off: After final engine checks, you line up on the centerline, throttle up, and smoothly take to the skies above Lydd.
2. In the Air: Your Hands-On Experience
Feel the Flight: Right from wheels-up, your instructor invites you to “follow through” on the controls, allowing you to physically feel the subtle inputs required to pilot the aircraft.
Take the Yoke (Steering controls) : Under calm, expert supervision, you’ll have the opportunity to operate the controls yourself and experience real-time aircraft response.
Your Pace, Your Flight: Zero experience? No problem! You control the pace: take on as much as you feel comfortable with, keep it light, or simply sit back, relax, and soak in your first moments in the pilot’s seat.

30-Minute Local Flight: Ideal for a first-time taste of aviation, staying within an area bounded by Rye, Ashford, and Dymchurch.
60-Minute Extended Flight: Expand your horizons with a longer journey soaring toward Beachy Head, Maidstone, Dover, or Canterbury.
