Farnborough NORTH now available

London Area LARS is a radar-based air traffic information and alerting service for pilots of GA aircraft flying in the busy airspace below or around the London TMA. It will be run from Farnborough, building on the local LARS service already provided from there by NATS and TAG Farnborough.
London LARS will give you much better awareness of other traffic in your vicinity, so that will help your safety and safety of others. Should you get into any difficulties we will have your details and can respond very quickly. LARS can also help you to avoid infringing controlled airspace.
The service offered will be either Radar Advisory, Radar Information or Flight Information depending on workload. Details on the NATS website.

Use of "Student" Callsign Prefix
As a result of a civil aircraft accident involving a student pilot the Air Accident Investigation Branch has recommended the introduction of a callsign prefix to signify a student pilot flying solo. The use of the callsign prefix 'Student' will be reflected in CAP 413.
The purpose of the callsign prefix is to enable Air Traffic Controllers and other personnel to take into consideration the more limited ability of student pilots when issuing instructions and/or other information.
The prefix should be used on initial contact with ATSU's and, once acknowledged, it will not normally be necessary for student pilots to use the prefix in subsequent transmissions until making initial contact with other ATSU's, unless they feel they are being instructed to do something with which they are unfamiliar.
Full information can be found in Aeronautical Information Circular 83/2007 (pink)
