The “6 WEEK” PPL Course £7,995.00 inclusive For those with the time and resources to
undertake an intensive training course, Lydd Aero Club is pleased to offer a
full-time, six week course leading to the Private Pilot Licence (JAR-PPL). In preparing this scheme, we have
endeavoured to give an honest and realistic appraisal of the true cost of
obtaining a PPL without "hidden extras". The
six week, fixed price, pre-paid course is non-refundable and prices will
remain unchanged for six months from the date the course commences. If a student is unable to
complete training within six months, the company will grant automatic
three-month extensions (not exceeding two years from commencement date in
total), but additional payments may have to be made by the student in respect
of any applicable increased costs such as fuel prices or landing fees that
may have taken place in the intervening period. The price includes: · 45 Hours of Flight Training · Pre-flight classroom briefings · Up to100 landings at Lydd · Up to 10 landings at other airfields ·
40 Hours of · 7 Written Examinations · Trevor Thom's Textbooks Volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7 · Cessna 152 Check List · Pooley's CRP-1 Computer ·
1:500,000 · Pooley's CB-5 Kneeboard · 9" Ruler · Protractor · PPL Log Book · Pilot Flight Case · VAT · Membership of Lydd Aero Club for the duration of the training · Free use of computer based training aids in the Club · Free loan of headset The Price does not include payments to
some third parties, namely: · Medical Examiner's Fee (Approx £150) · CAA Examiner's Skills Test Fee (£150) · CAA Radio Examiner's Fee (Approx £70) · CAA Licence Issue Fee (£168 from April 2008) · Written Examination re-sits (£23.50 each) · Additional flying hours (over and above 45) · Accommodation (if required) When considering undertaking a course of this nature, you must be fully aware of the following facts:
Flying training is weather
dependent. It should be possible to complete the course in less than six
weeks given average weather conditions. If, however, weather conditions are
such that, in the Instructors view, the student would not benefit from flying
in such conditions, the course could take longer than six weeks.
You will be allocated an
Instructor who will work with you on a 1 to 1 basis. You will fly with this
Instructor for most of your course, but from time to time our Chief Flying
Instructor may fly with you for progress checks. 45 hours is the minimum
legal requirement before a student can apply for a PPL. Even if you complete
the course in less than 45 hours, you will still have to be supervised for
the minimum of 45. If you need more than 45 hours before you can be put
forward for your Skills Test, extra hours will be charged at the current
discounted Block Training Rate At our CFI's discretion,
if a student has completed the full course in less that the mandatory 45
hours - as has been the case in the past - we would use the spare hours to
give the student a Night Rating (only possible in winter) or a Cross Channel
Check at no extra cost. Aircraft Your training will be
conducted in a Cessna 152. If for technical reasons your plane becomes
unavailable at ant time during the course, the Club reserves the right to
replace it by a similar plane or one of a higher type at no extra cost. Landing Fees 100 Lydd landings should
be enough to meet the course requirements. If you require more landings than
that, they will be charged at the current Club rate. 8 away landings form part
of your Navigation/Cross Country training. Additional away landings will be
payable to the airfield in question, ranging from £8 to £30 per landing
depending on destination. Equipment The equipment listed as
included in the price is all you will need to complete the PPL course and,
unless stated as being on loan, it is yours to keep. Accommodation (if required) We use a number excellent
of B&B establishments in the immediate vicinity of the airport. Details
are available on request. Medical Examiner You may start training
without a valid Medical Certificate, but you will not be allowed to fly solo
until you have a Class 2 Certificate issued by a CAA approved Medical
Examiner. It would therefore make sense to undergo the medical examination
before commencing training. A list of medical examiners' names, addresses and
contact numbers is available on request. Skills Test This is the practical
flying test that takes place at the end of your training and provided you
have successfully completed all your ground examinations. Radio Practical You will have to take a practical
radiotelephony test. This may be conducted within the Lydd Aero Club
facilities at Written Exams Most people pass their
exams at first sitting. If you fail a paper, you may take it again at the
Club. You are only allowed three attempts. Any further re-sits beyond that
have to take place at the CAA Headquarters by Licence Issue Fee Your PPL will be issued by
the CAA, Flight Crew Licensing, at Gatwick. We will complete the application
on your behalf and the applicable fee (Currently £146) will be payable to the
CAA. Payment Payment for this packaged
course must be made in full prior to commencing training and can be by
cheque, cash, credit or debit card. Guarantee All moneys paid will be
held in the Club's Clients Account and only transferred to the Club as the
training takes place. If, for whatever reason, a student decides to
discontinue the training at any stage, the cost of training provided and
goods or services supplied up to that point would be calculated at the Club's
published "pay-as-you-go" rates and the remaining balance will be
refunded. Caveat It is perfectly possible
to complete the full PPL course in 45 hours and take all exams inside six
weeks. Nevertheless, a fundamental ingredient to meet these targets is the
student's application, dedication and determination to learn. If you chose
this intensive training route towards a Private Pilot Licence you must be
prepared to put in 5 to 6 day's a week at the Club. |
